Jay-Z will headline the halftime show for the 2027 Super Bowl. The NFL and Apple Music announced the selection on Monday, October 26, during a broadcast of the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles game. The news confirms earlier reports from Puck, which cited industry sources as the basis for the story.

The announcement featured a black-and-white video of the 25-time Grammy winner sitting in the stands with a goat on his lap. The audio track played the opening line of his song "Public Service Announcement (Interlude)": "Allow me to reintroduce myself." The social media post included the phrase "GOAT's out of the bag," signaling the long-rumored shift from producer to performer.

This performance marks a transition for the artist, whose real name is Shawn Carter. His company, Roc Nation, has partnered with the NFL to produce the halftime show since 2019. Roger Goodell, the NFL Commissioner, stated that he requested Jay-Z perform whenever the moment felt right. Goodell cited the "extraordinary impact" the rapper has had on the production during these years.

The 2027 event is designated as Super Bowl 61. It is scheduled for February 14 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The game and the halftime performance will air on ESPN, ABC, and Disney+, with mobile access available through NFL+. The venue holds particular significance for Jay-Z, as the final two stops of his recent 30 Tour took place at the same stadium.

The 30 Tour commemorated three decades since the release of his debut album, "Reasonable Doubt." The tour visited Paris, London, and New York City. Jay-Z invited several guests during the run, including his wife, Beyoncé. In a statement released on Monday, he described the selection as a dream come true, noting that the journey from his first album to this stage covers thirty years of culture and work.

Questions remain about who else will appear on stage. It is not yet clear if Beyoncé or other well-known collaborators will join him. Past headliners have invited major stars, though artists like The Weeknd and Rihanna performed alone. Last year's show, headlined by Bad Bunny with cameos from Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, won seven Creative Arts Emmys. That performance is now the most awarded halftime show in history.

Jay-Z received one of those Emmys as a producer. Kendrick Lamar, who headlined the 2025 show, also won an Emmy for his performance. Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of music and international content, told fans to expect an incredible show, citing Jay-Z's profound and undeniable impact on global music culture.
