Oakland County fans following the 2026 World Series will see the Milwaukee Brewers hold a 3-0 lead over the Tampa Bay Rays following Monday's decisive victory. The Brewers defeated the Rays 10-1, a result that places them on the verge of their first championship and the first sweep in the Fall Classic since 2012. Game 4 begins at 8 p.m. ET Tuesday at Tropicana Field, with the series status shifting the betting odds dramatically in Milwaukee's favor.
The margin of victory reflects a sharp turn in the series dynamics. Before Game 3, the Brewers were listed at -750, while the Rays stood at +500. Following Monday's performance, those numbers moved to -5000 for Milwaukee and +1500 for Tampa Bay. DraftKings Sportsbook lists the Brewers as -139 favorites for Tuesday's contest, with a total run line of 7. The Over side of that total is currently seeing a heavy lean from bettors.
Milwaukee's offensive surge in the final frame of the fifth inning defined the game. The Brewers scored eight runs with two outs, marking the highest total for a team with two outs in a single inning of a World Series game. This performance extended Milwaukee's postseason winning streak to eight games, tying the records set by the 2004 Red Sox, 2005 White Sox, 2014 Royals, and 2019 Nationals. The team stands 10-1 in the playoffs, while the Rays have lost all three series games.
Dustin May of the Brewers and Griffin Jax of the Rays are slated to start Tuesday. May, 29, finished the regular season with a 7-9 record and a 4.70 ERA after joining Milwaukee from St. Louis. In the playoffs, he has a 5.63 ERA over 8.0 innings across four appearances. Jax, 31, went 8-10 with a 3.53 ERA during the regular season. He has a 6.00 ERA in two playoff appearances. Both managers, Pat Murphy and Kevin Cash, are expected to use their bullpens aggressively behind the starters.
The statistical context for a 3-0 series lead is stark. The Brewers are the 43rd team in history to lead a playoff series 3-0. Only 10 teams have forced a Game 5 from that position. In the World Series specifically, no team has reached Game 6 after falling behind 3-0. The only team to complete a 3-1 comeback in a best-of-seven MLB series was the Boston Red Sox against the New York Yankees in the 2004 American League Championship Series.
Jackson Chourio of the Brewers recorded four hits in Monday's game, becoming the youngest player with four hits in a World Series game since Joe Garagiola in 1946. He is currently the favorite for World Series MVP at odds of -110, slightly ahead of catcher William Contreras. For the Rays, third baseman Junior Caminero is the leading candidate at +1500. The series continues Tuesday, with a potential Game 5 scheduled for Wednesday at Tropicana Field.
