The National Football League, Apple Music, and Roc Nation announced on Monday evening that Jay-Z will perform at the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show. The event is scheduled for February 14 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The announcement featured a brief video of the artist seated in the stadium with a group of goats. The accompanying text read, "GOAT's out of the bag."
This marks a return to the venue where Jay-Z recently concluded his "Jay-Z 30" concert tour. The series of dates began with three performances at Yankee Stadium in New York, moved to London, and finished in Southern California over the weekend.
Roc Nation, Jay-Z's entertainment company, has worked with the NFL since 2019 to advise on and produce the league's halftime presentations. When the partnership first began, Jay-Z told NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, "If this is about me performing at the Super Bowl, then we can just end this conversation now."
Seven years after that exchange, the rapper has agreed to take the stage. Previous headliners for the event have included Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, and The Weeknd.
Born Shawn Carter, Jay-Z has won 25 Grammy Awards and received 89 nominations, the second-highest total in history behind his wife, Beyoncé. His discography includes the albums "Reasonable Doubt," "The Blueprint," and "The Black Album," as well as hits like "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)" and "Empire State of Mind." His 1996 debut album, "Reasonable Doubt," was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame last year.
The artist has also expanded his career into music publishing, artist management, and sports. He co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records and established Roc Nation in 2008. In 2017, he became the first rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and he joined the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
